FAQs
My pet has a specific diagnosis. Have you ever treated an animal with this condition before? Was the treatment successful?
Although I have experience treating a lot of different conditions, there is always something new to learn when practicing medicine. My foundation in physiology, pathology, and homeopathic philosophy allows a unique understanding of the disease process in the individual patient. This often leads to a more complete restoration of health. So even if I haven't seen exactly the syndrome your pet is suffering from, I can still figure out a plan that is most likely going to help him or her recover.
Nobody can figure out what's wrong with my pet. Would you be able to help?
A complete and thorough physical exam usually provides significant clues to the state of your pet's health. if diagnostic testing has been done I will review the results and take them into account. If no testing has been done I can let you know if it is necessary.
Do I need to have a regular vet as well as a holistic vet?
For some clients I am their only veterinarian. If blood tests or x-rays are necessary, referrals can be made to a local practice. In case of emergency you may need to go to your local emergency hospital.
Other clients are happy with their regular veterinarian and only see me when they have specific questions about treatment, or they might come in for a holistic evaluation after seeing the regular vet for the annual exam. Either way I will make the same recommendations for treatment and follow up communication.
My dog has behavioral problems. Can you help?
Yes, and you will also need to find a trainer to work with. Even if your dog went through obedience class as a puppy, or is perfectly well-behaved except in certain situations, you need a trainer. We can definitely treat for vaccinosis, including rabies vaccinosis, and you need a trainer. The remedy will not compensate for a lack of leadership or management skills, and that is what a good trainer is for. My go-to trainers are Katie K9 in Hugo, MN (Katie specializes in basic family dog training), and Tiffany Huebner in Ramsey, MN (Tiffany specializes in the bully breeds, having a well-mannered dog, as well as competitive obedience and agility).
